Silicon Industry Association: $50 billion are needed to bring chip manufacturing to the US

In brief: American semiconductor giants are planning to build up to 19 manufacturing plants in the US, but they won't do it without substantial federal investment. What they're asking is that the US government spend at least half as much as China does for securing a larger share of global semiconductor manufacturing.

In July we took a deep dive into China's ambitious plan for technological self-sufficiency, which is largely motivated by the US-China trade war and the insistence on replacing all foreign hardware and

iRobot's latest Roomba makes automatic dust bin emptying more affordable

Bottom line: Robotic vacuum pioneer iRobot on Thursday added a new model to its lineup that borrows one key feature from the company’s more expensive cleaners. It is more affordable than earlier models but even still, $600 is a lot for a vacuum. The convenience afforded by no longer having to directly tend to the chore and only having to clean the dust bin a handful of times per year, however, will no doubt appeal to some.

The new Roomba i3+ features iRobot’s clever

Mozilla is investigating YouTube's curious recommendation algorithms

Privacy first: Submitted data will be assigned to a randomly generated user ID and only Mozilla will have access to it. Furthermore, data won’t be collected during private browsing sessions and when Mozilla presents its findings to the public, it’ll do so in a way that’ll minimize the risk of users being identified.

Visitors of Nintendo’s Japanese website were the first to notice a note on product pages for the various 3

It's called God of War: Ragnarok, which isn't surprising given that the world-ending event, according to Norse mythology, had been teased previously as an easter egg in GoW's official PS4 dynamic theme.
