Bel-Air lands two season deal from NBC's Peacock streaming service

In brief: The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was arguably one of the best sitcoms to come out of the 90s and given its cast of characters and many plot lines, it was only a matter of time before someone revisited the concept. It remains to be seen if the remake will be a hit but the trailer was apparently good enough to get at least one major streaming company interested.

NBC’s Peacock has scored a major victory as the recently launched streaming service has secured the rights to produce Bel-

Western Digital's 5400 RPM drives aren't what they seem

A hot potato: When is a 5400 RPM drive not a 5400 RPM drive? When it comes from Western Digital, apparently. An investigation has revealed that several of the company's drives, which it calls "5400 Class," are actually rotating at 7200 RPM.

As noted by Ars Technica , this issue was first investigated by German-language forum hardwareluxx.de over a year ago. It was re-examined by redditor /u/Amaroko

China launches initiative on data governance to counter U.S. Clean Network program

What just happened? A month ago, the Trump administration revealed a five-part "Clean Network" plan to drive out all Chinese tech companies from the American Internet. Now China has launched a global data security initiative to prove it has good intentions, but we'll have to wait and see how this unfolds into concrete action before we can judge its implications.

According to the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the "Clean Network" plan is a necessary move in the face of an increased

In brief: CD Projekt Red has earned its consumer-friendly reputation by putting out high-quality products like The Witcher 3 and avoiding aggressive microtransactions (MTX) in its singleplayer titles. However, it seems the company will compromise its values somewhat with Cyberpunk 2077's future online mode.

Though the base game will still be the same MTX-free experience it's always been touted as, Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer version will feature some form of monetization.

That's not

Microsoft might be releasing a more budget-friendly Surface Laptop

Why it matters: A low-cost Surface Laptop will allow Microsoft to compete quite handily with Chromebooks and MacBook Airs. Many students are in need of laptops for distance learning so having a $500 laptop that fulfills that need would be welcome. A budget price combined with the excellent build quality of a Surface device would make it quite competitive.

Surface devices have generally been priced on the premium side of the spectrum. However, Microsoft seemed to realize that it could find success on the budget end with the release

Did Nintendo borrow the idea for Super Mario Bros. 35 from a YouTuber?

In context: When Nintendo announced its 35th anniversary Mario celebration last week, one of the company’s new games felt a bit familiar to some. As it turns out, it wasn’t just in their head as Super Mario Bros. 35 looks an awful lot like a project we saw from a YouTuber a little over a year ago.

In June 2019, YouTuber InfernoPlus created a battle royale version of Super Mario Bros. in which nearly 100 players would compete against each
