Something to look forward to: Crysis maker Crytek is acknowledging the original game’s infamously demanding nature and the resulting memes by naming the remastered version’s highest graphical setting “Can it Run Crysis?”

3D Realms announces Graven, the spiritual successor to Hexen II

Editor's take: Publisher 3D Realms during its Realms Deep digital event this weekend announced Graven, an action first-person puzzler / shooter billed as a spiritual successor to Hexen II. If you loved the look and feel of late 90s first-person shooters, this will likely make your short list.

In Graven , you’ll explore a dark fantasy world as a faithful priest of the Orthogonal order that has been “exiled unto death for a crime in defense of another.” Per Steam’

Epic confident in its lawsuit against Apple, asks courts to "restrain" Apple from adverse action

Big quote: "To be clear, Epic does not seek to force Apple to provide distribution and processing services for free, nor does Epic seek to enjoy Apple’s services without paying for them. What Epic wants is the freedom not to use Apple’s App Store or IAP, and instead to use and offer competing services," says Epic in its preliminary injunction filing from Friday.

In the latest development between Epic Games and Apple, Epic is once again petitioning the courts to allow Fortnite to return to the

AMD strikes back at Nvidia by releasing... bicycles

WTF?! AMD’s decision to diversify their product portfolio comes hot on the heels of Nvidia’s announcement of the ground-breaking RTX 3000 series. Is AMD admitting defeat and surrendering the GPU market? (that’s a joke – hopefully)

In addition to their main website detailing their processors, AMD operates a special fan store that sells AMD-themed merchandise. Mostly

Amazon deletes 20,000 user reviews after finding evidence of suspicious activity

What just happened? Amazon has deleted some 20,000 reviews from its top 7 UK reviewers. It appears that the reviews had been posted as part of a profiteering plot, where individuals were sent free products in exchange for a guaranteed five-star review.

The move comes following an investigation from the Financial Times , which initially identified “suspicious activity” involving 9 out of Amazon’s top 10 UK accounts. Following this initial investigation, Amazon has now removed the review history of its top 7

Bethesda is still updating the original Doom games from the 90s

Editor's take: Bethesda has no obligation or expectation to update a game that is nearly 27 years old, yet they do so anyway. That sort of commitment says a lot about their appreciation for the loyal community that has supported the franchise from the very beginning.

Doom just won’t die, and that’s a good thing for retro gamers. After spicing up the original and Doom II earlier this year with support for community-created content and higher frame rates, Bethesda is at it again with

Google is creating a microscope with AI and AR to help detect cancer

The big picture: Google has won a contract with the DoD’s Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) to use recent technological advancements to improve the accuracy of cancer diagnoses. About five percent of diagnoses are made incorrectly, and in half of those cases, the incorrect diagnosis causes problems further down the road.

Google plans to train an AI using the open-source platform TensorFlow to detect cancerous cells in photos taken from a microscope. They’ve already started developing the neural networks by using the Google Cloud Healthcare API to

TCL made a paper-like color display that's supposedly higher contrast than E-Ink

Something to look forward to: It's been almost a decade since a technology like the electrowetting display showed any promise of offering the same power-saving capabilities of E-Ink displays without any of the drawbacks. Chinese manufacturer TCL has made a new variant of LCD technology that could turn that dream into a reality, without completely re-inventing the wheel.

TCL is mostly known for its relatively affordable TVs , soundbars, and smartphones, but for the past few years it's been busy cooking its own innovations

Fujifilm announces XF 50mm lens with f/1.0 aperture

In brief: The new Fujifilm XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR lens is a portrait-length prime (fixed length) lens that’ll likely appeal to low-light shooters and those with the sort of creative eye to take advantage of that shallow depth of field.

Fujifilm has introduced what it is calling the world’s first f/1.0 aperture lens with
