Mark Zuckerberg is $7 billion poorer as more companies join Facebook ad boycott

The ‘Stop Hate for Profit’ campaign, created by organizations including the NAACP, Anti-Defamation League (ADL), and Mozilla, asks businesses “to stand in solidarity with our most deeply held American values of freedom, equality and justice and not advertise on Facebook's services in July.”

Dr Disrespect isn't sure why Twitch suspended/banned him

It seems clear enough that he’s been banned, but bizarrely, Twitch won’t confirm this so we’ll optimistically call it a suspension for now. Twitch’s official statement is: “As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines...

AMD drivers for macOS Big Sur namedrop third-gen RDNA hardware

Kindly, Apple’s provided the first confirmation of the Navi 31 GPU. Given the third-gen moniker, it will probably use RDNA3. It’s still two generations away but this is a good indicator that AMD is on track for the steady slew of yearly releases they promised.

California will require all newly-sold trucks to be zero-emissions by 2045

In context: California has long been one of the primary proponents of clean energy and climate protection-focused policies and regulations. The state hit its emissions target a whopping four years ahead of schedule, as we reported in 2018, but California's leaders don't want to leave well enough alone.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has announced a "first-in-the-world" rule that will require all truck and van manufacturers to transition from diesel vehicles to zero-emission

More 'proof' that Microsoft has a 'Lockhart' console ready to ship with Xbox Series X

Rumor mill: We still don't know how much Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles are going to cost, but we do know that Sony will have a second, more affordable PS5. Despite numerous leaks and rumors, Microsoft has continuously maintained that it only has one console in the works. However, more evidence has surfaced that indicates Redmond has a surprise up its sleeve.

It has only been a couple of weeks since Sony revealed it would have two versions of the PlayStation 5 at launch.

YouTube is experimenting with 15-second, multi-segment videos to counter TikTok

Bottom line: YouTube is the preeminent platform for traditional video sharing but really, that doesn’t mean a whole lot as success in one style of video doesn’t guarantee similar results in another. YouTube has a massive user base and a solid marketing machine behind it but ultimately, it’ll be up to end-users to decide how far short-form video can go on the platform.

YouTube isn’t content to let TikTok ride off into the sunset with the lion’s share of the short

$70 million sci-fi flick 'b' stars an AI robot named 'Erica'

Through the looking glass: Artificial intelligence and robotics have had an ever-expanding role in society. Usually, these technologies have been used for dangerous jobs like working in a factory or replacing humans for menial tasks like answering the telephone. However, with the boom in machine learning, AI is becoming powerful enough to do more complex tasks, like acting. Wait. What?

A movie, simply titled "b," is currently in early production. What makes it unique is that it will be the first big-

Microsoft is permanently closing all of its retail stores

Editor's take: As I suspect we are going to increasingly see, Microsoft over the past few months realized that its brick-and-mortar presence was no longer essential. Instead, Microsoft will move forward with a renewed focus on its digital storefronts and continue to offer new services like 1:1 video chat support and virtual workshops.

Microsoft on Friday announced a dramatic shift in its retail strategy that’ll see the company permanently close all of its physical Microsoft Store locations.

Like many others, Microsoft shut down

Naughty Dog has no plans for The Last of Us Part II DLC

What just happened? The Last of Us Part II will be markedly different from the original in that there won’t be any post-launch downloadable content… at least, not in the foreseeable future. In a recent interview with Kinda Funny, creative director Neil Druckmann said the development team at Naughty Dog has no plans to offer DLC for its latest game.

If you recall, the first entry in the series featured multiple pieces of downloadable content including an entirely new single-player campaign called The Last of Us:
