THQ Nordic launches a playable teaser for a potential Gothic remake

In context: If you're a long-time RPG fan, there's a very good chance you've heard of or even played the original Gothic, first released back in 2001. Though a bit rough around the edges (even for its time), the game was charming, difficult, and complex to master; all things gamers came to appreciate. The title did well enough to justify several sequels.

These sequels vary quite a bit in terms of quality, but there's

Final Fantasy VII Remake's new trailer drops hints at potential love triangle

The FFVII-R trailer (above) had a little bit of everything — snippets of gameplay, bits of dialog, and lots of action. It mostly focused on lead character Cloud Strife, providing a bit of backstory and context to what he and the rest of the crew are doing in Midgar.

Google Earth now covers 98 percent of the population

The big picture: Indeed, the quality of satellite imagery featured in Google’s mapping products has improved dramatically over the past decade or so. This is readily evident in Google Earth using the timeline slider to view satellite imagery from years earlier. Most imagery captured within the past few years is easily noticeable while snaps from a decade or more ago are often in black and white and hardly recognizable.

Google has managed to catalog an unbelievable amount of imagery to populate its various mapping services.

In a recent blog post on the

Samsung is pouring $8 billion towards new NAND factory in China

Forward-looking: Samsung has decided to bolster its Chinese NAND production by committing an additional $8 billion on top of earlier investments. This comes in spite of increased pressure from competing local companies that are able to undercut its products. With a predicted increase in demand for 5G phones, Samsung is anticipating this while trying to keep memory prices low and make it harder for others to steal market share.

Samsung lost the title of world's largest chip maker to Intel this year, but that doesn't mean

Apple acquires start-up that specializes in enhancing low-light imagery

Bottom line: With the advent of social media and sharing, mobile photography has arguably never been more popular. As such, handset manufacturers are looking for any and every advantage that’ll give them a leg up on the competition and ultimately help them sell more smartphones. In light of (no pun intended) this latest acquisition, Apple seemingly believes they have found a differentiator with Spectral Edge’s tech.

Apple has reportedly purchased UK-based startup Spectral Edge Ltd. for an undisclosed sum.

It appears that The Wolf Among Us will be getting its sequel after all. LCG Entertainment (DBA Telltale Games) has confirmed that The Wolf Among Us 2 is back in development.

The title was canceled last year after studio Telltale Games dissolved and sold

Nintendo's Switch is on pace to be the best-selling console of 2019

The big picture: The Nintendo Switch remains the best-selling gaming platform of 2019. According to a recent report from The NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella, the Switch again topped the charts in November and with the holidays rapidly approaching combined with aging hardware from the competition and no shortage of attractive Switch bundles on offer, there’s little reason to believe December will be any different.

Despite the Switch’s success, spending across video game hardware as a whole was down 19 percent in November compared

Porsche and Lucasfilm partner on new Star Wars ship

In brief: Porsche might be well-known for its expensive sports cars, but it seems the German automaker’s talents aren’t limited to earth-bound vehicles. To promote the upcoming Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, it teamed up with Lucasfilm to design a starfighter: the Tri-Wing S-91 Pegasus.

Sadly, the Pegasus isn’t an actual, flyable ship. In reality, it’s a five-foot-long scale model that uses some elements found in Porsche’

FTC might seek an injunction against Facebook over antitrust concerns

In brief: The FTC wants to take a new approach by seeking an injunction against Facebook, instead of dragging the company into an investigation that could take years to produce any effects. If the five members vote in favor of such a move, the social giant may face major roadblocks in its overall strategy as soon as next month.

Back in March, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg outlined the company's plans for a privacy-focused future, which among other things includes operating Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram on
