As part of Intel's announcement today of new Cascade Lake Refresh processors that come with significant per-core pricing reductions, the company also announced an expansion of its reach into the burgeoning 5G server market with a new lineup of products that includes the 10nm Atom P5900, the first all-Atom SoC based on the Tremont architecture, the Diamond MESA structured FPGA (eASIC), and the Ethernet 700 series of network adaptors.

Samsung Starts 7nm Production at New EUV Fab

Samsung Electronics announced that it has started 7nm and 6nm production of mobile chips at a new EUV manufacturing line in Hwaseong, Korea, with shipments planned for the first quarter. The company aims to triple its 7nm and below output by the end of the year.

The facility is called V1 and is Samsung’s first to be dedicated to EUV lithography, and will play a pivotal role for the company’s single-digit process nodes, Samsung said. It started test production in the second half

Reuters: Samsung to Produce 5nm Qualcomm X60 5G Modem

Samsung Foundry has won the contract to produce Qualcomm’s 5nm 5G X60 Modem, according to Reuters on Tuesday. It would mark an important win against leading foundry TSMC.

Reuters reported based on two sources familiar with the matter. Samsung would produce “at least some” of Qualcomm’s X60 5G modem. In the case, it could be similar to how Nvidia is also reportedly going to source some 7nm GPU production to Samsung.

Nvidia GeForce Now Loses More Games as Bethesda Pulls Out

Bethesda Softworks is pulling the majority of its games from Nvidia's GeForce Now game streaming service. The company quietly announced the change in its forums, noting that one title, the RTX-enabled Wolfenstein Youngblood , will remain.
