Students 3D print drone that can swim underwater and fly through the air — 'variable-pitch propeller system' paves way for amphibious breakthrough

We've covered all sorts of amazing drones here at Tom's Hardware — most of them custom-designed with amazing finesse. Today is the first time we've ever covered a drone quite like this. Students Andrei Copaci, Pawel Kowalczyk, Krzysztof Sierocki, and Mikolaj Dzwigalo from Denmark's Aalborg University have 3D printed a custom drone that is not only capable of flight but can also be piloted underwater.

3D-printed PCB made with liquid metal and PVA is fully recyclable, allows immediate reuse — dissolves and separates when immersed in water, allowing for reuse

(Image credit: Zeyu Yan, et. al. / DissolvPCB: Fully Recyclable 3D-Printed Electronics with Liquid Metal Conductors and PVA Substrates)

A team of researchers from the University of Maryland, Georgia Tech, and the University of Notre Dame created a new 3D printing method for building PCBs that can use fully recyclable materials. That means a PCB can be created, dissolved, and the materials entirely reused to create a new PCB.

According to the paper (via ResearchGate ), this technique, called DissolvPCB

3D printing and AI used to slash nuclear reactor component construction time ‘from weeks to days’ — pioneers hail 'new era of nuclear construction'

(Image credit: Oak Ridge National Laboratory)

3D printing is tipped to have a pivotal part to play in “a new era of nuclear construction.” The assertion comes after the U.S.'s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) successfully integrated 3D printing and AI into the smart manufacturing of nuclear infrastructure. The ORNL partnered with Kairos Power, Barnard Construction, Airtech, TruDesign, Additive Engineering Solutions, Haddy, and the University of Maine to successfully create polymer concrete forms for the Hermes Low-
