Intel Meteor Lake SoC is NOT Coming to Desktops: Well, Not Technically

Over the last couple of days, numerous reports have revealed that Intel's recently announced Meteor Lake SoC, primarily a mobile platform, would be coming to desktop PCs. Intel has further clarified that while their Meteor Lake processors will be featured in desktop systems next year, they won't power traditional socketed desktop PCs. Instead, these CPUs, primarily crafted for laptops, will be packaged in ball grid array (BGA) formats, making them suitable for compact desktops and all-in-one (AIO) devices

Samsung 990 Evo Magically Appears on Magician Software Support Page

Samsung accidentally added an unreleased and unannounced SSD — the 990 Evo — to the Samsung Magician's requirement page (spotted by ComputerBase ). The apparent slip-up seems to confirm that the company is indeed making a mainstream version of the 990 Pro, which would be the first Evo drive since the 970 Evo Plus.

This isn't the first we've heard of the 990 Evo: a year ago the 99

Intel Clarifies Meteor Lake is Not for Desktop PCs: Not in Socketed Form

Although Intel's Meteor Lake processors will power desktop computers next year , they will not power desktop PCs with sockets, the company clarified. Since the new CPUs are predominantly designed for laptops, they will come in ball grid array (BGA) packages and be used for compact desktops and all-in-one machines.

"Meteor Lake is a power efficient architecture that will power innovative mobile and desktop designs, including desktop form factors such as All-in-One (AIO),

Intel clarifies upcoming ‘desktop’ Meteor Lake are actually for All-in-One PCs

Intel clarifies confusing statement from the head of its PC division

No LGA-1851 for Meteor Lake.

In an interview with PCWorld Michelle Johnston Holthaus (Intel Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Client Computing Group) has clearly said that Meteor Lake chips are coming to desktops in 2024. The problem with this statement is that Holthaus did not actually mean a desktop socket but rather a desktop form factor which spans across a variety of systems.

Obviously, the vast majority of users will never call

Report: Qualcomm Forces OEMs to Use Its Own PMICs for Oryon SoC

According to SemiAccurate, Qualcomm is currently navigating through many challenges with its Oryon SoC for laptops. The current problem is that Qualcomm is insisting on integrating its own PMICs (Power Management Integrated Circuits), which are inherently designed for cell phones, causing significant compatibility and efficiency issues. This approach is reported to have led to escalated costs and disagreements with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), seemingly hindering Qualcomm's foothold in the laptop sector. These PMICs are highlighted as unsuitable and highly priced, requiring the adoption of high-
