I got rumors about a new Sony sensor that could be released in 2026:
- Resolution: 67 Megapixels
- Frame Rate: 60fps readout
- Pixel Size: 3.6μm
- Type: 35mm Stacked (partially?)
- Video: 10k/30p, 8k60p, 4k120p
- Features: High-Speed AF, Super High-Speed AD, DCG-HDR
- Interface: SLVS-EC v2.2 8×2
- Color: Bayer Color (PDAF)
- Mass Production (MP): Q4 2025
I am not sure if with “stacked” the source means it’s fully or partially stacked. My guess is that this is a partially stacked sensor with Dual Conversion Gain‐HDR (DCG-HDR) technology, which composites data read at different gain settings in a single frame. This would be a stunning sensor for the Sony A7RVI don’t you think?
This sensor is open fur purchase from third party manufacturers. The current Sony A7rV sensor is for example being used also on the Leica M11, Leica SL3 , Leica Q3 and Sigma FP-L .
While I think the rumor about this new 67MP sensor is likely to be correct…I am not sure if this is the sensor that will be used on the future Sony A7rVI. Sony might prefer to use an own version that cannot be used by others.
