Many readers here are still waiting for Sony to finally release a proper updated FX3 II. I haven’t received any information yet that this camera will be announced within the next one to two months. But apparently, some Sony managers are ‘hinting’ at something. This is a story I just received:

Spoke with a Sony rep at NAB. I asked if he would buy an FX3 now or wait. He indicated if rolling shutter would be an issue for me then I should wait, indicating a new sensor upgrade was coming and likely the FX3ii.

The manager did not mention any timeframe but my less optimistic speculation is that we will get the Sony FX3II at the IBC show in September. I hope to be proven wrong and that we might get this Sony FX3II earlier. I got rumors about a 16 (or 18MP?) partially stacked sensor that could be used on this model Don’t think it will use the 24MP Global Shutter of the Sony A9III .
