Now that we have seen the Sony A7rVI , it’s clear this camera is not a Sony A1II killer for one major reason: the readout speed is 4–5 times slower than on the Sony A1II.

I am not an engineer, but I wonder why Sony decided to use a fully stacked sensor — a technology known for enabling extremely fast readout speeds — and then not exploit its full potential. Maybe some skilled SAR readers can explain the reason behind this choice?

Still, while it may not be a true Sony A1II killer, with pre-capture, 30fps shooting, higher resolution, and a price tag that is $3,500 lower, you really need very specific needs to justify choosing the Sony A1II over the Sony A7rVI.

While the Sony A1II has been the ultimate all-rounder camera so far, that crown may now be passing to the Sony A7rVI. I think it could cannibalize future Sony A1II sales.

At $4,500, this looks like a clear winner. Yes, some of you complained about the slower readout speed and the lack of certain video features, but overall Sony seems to have created an extremely compelling package.
