What you see here is likely the first leaked image of the Sony FX5 and it tells us a LOT about this new cine camera! First of all thanks to the source for sending this image and the additional info I will post here. I truly appreciate your help ;)

Sony FX5 image leak: Let’s start from the top and go down to analyze what we see here:

• On top something BIG is attached…I don’t know if it’s a MIC or something else. What’s your guess?
• The menu array is very different from the Sony FX3 . And we se it has a False Color button!
• The camera seems to have a massive LCD screen, maybe similar in size to this Nikon ZR?
• The menu is the one from the Venice lineup and not from the classic Alpha lineup!
• The menu shows it records 5k 3:2 and other modes.

I hope the source will also soon show us the other options on the menu like codec, video format and so forth ;)

Sony FX5 specs:

First, an important correction: the camera does not have a 16MP global shutter sensor. Instead, it uses a 16MP fully stacked sensor. I apologize for the mistake. The first source, who correctly shared the camera name and release timing, misunderstood the sensor technology. So now the expected specs are the following:

• 16MP Fully stacked sensor (a newly developed Sony sensor!)
• Open Gate 5k 3:2
• Triple Base ISO
• X-OCN LT internal RAW recording
• announcement second half of July
• One more thing: RX10V camera is coming on July 9
