Right after the Sony FX5 announcement I told you that store managers did let me know the camera was selling hot. Now Sony Japan issued this official statement

Notice Regarding Supply of Professional Camcorder ‘FX5’

Thank you for your continued patronage of Sony products.
We have received significantly more orders for the professional camcorder ‘FX5’ than we anticipated. Therefore, there may be a delay in delivery.
We are currently working diligently to meet customer demand as quickly as possible, and we ask for your patience.

This statement applies to Japanese preorders, but I understand that the same is true for the rest of the world. The camera is scheduled to begin shipping on August 18, but if you preorder too late, you may have to wait until September or October to receive yours.
