Just for fun, this is a rumor that gets the gold medal for hottest FAKE rumor I’ve ever heard :)  This is what I got tonight from an anonymous source:

SONY has prepared an ultra-high density preservation camera for IBC, the alpha7 L, a black and white camera with an Exmor R image sensor, where L stands for Luma.
It has an effective pixel count of 48 megapixels and supports full-frame uncropped 8K/30p, 4K/60p recording .
It’s worth releasing at IBC because it can consistently record high quality uncropped FHD video, a feature in line with SONY’s flagship broadcast cameras, such as the HDC-5500 .

A Black and White 8K video camera….I really struggle to find anyone that would need this for serious production :)  Still, one of my dream cameras would be to get a Sony A7r camera with Black and White sensor. Something like an E-mount version of the Leica Monochrome . But my feeling is that there is near zero chance this will ever happen :(

Back to reality: The IBC show kicks off end of next week. I was hoping Sony would announce a new FX camera but I still got no final confirmation.
