AP photographer, Pulitzer winner and Sony Ambassador Felipe Dana just dropped a bomb teaser on his Instagram stories account . He shared images of a box of what he calls a new “mysterious” Sony Alpha model. He writes this is a new Sony model named “Xxxxxx”. On the box itself you read “Xxxxxx Xxxx XXX”. I have no idea yet what this stands for yet.

UPDATE: A good guess from our reader BT Hathaway:

This is not hard to figure out. I just looked at the FX6 box . It has the Greek alpha, a vertical bar, then “Cinema Line FX6”. Six letters. Four letters. Three. So it’s a Cinema Line camera. And because the box is so big, perhaps this is the FX9 replacement some of us have been waiting to see! Though since there isn’t a placeholder for a “II” then perhaps this is an FX8 which I’ve seen rumored before.

Now I do think this is a new FX camera, maybe the long time rumored FX8?
