Barney Frank: One of the first openly gay US congressmen dies aged 86

Former US congressman Barney Frank who famously took on Wall Street and was one of the first known openly gay representatives died on Tuesday night, US media reports. He was 86.

Frank, a Democrat who represented southern Massachusetts in the House of Representatives for over three decades, had been in hospice care at his home in Maine since April.

He will be remembered as a trailblaser for LGBT rights, as the first member of Congress in a same-sex marriage, and for helping to overhaul

The World Health Organization (WHO) says there have now been 600 suspected cases of Ebola and 139 suspected deaths, with numbers expected to rise further given the time taken to detect the virus.

Fifty-one cases have now been confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo - where the first case was reported - and two in neighbouring Uganda, WHO chief Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday.

Lithuania's president and prime minister were forced to take shelter on Tuesday, when a drone alert caused the capital Vilnius to come to a standstill.
