This camera was announced in 2021 and the only “improvement” over the A7rIII was the addition of a new, higher-resolution LCD screen (2.36 million dots). And now it has been officially discontinued according to BHphoto. If we are lucky, there will be a new A7rVI at the end of 2025 and the older A7rV and A7rIV cameras will continue to fall in price. This could mean the end of the A7

About those rumors: I have no idea who sent them and 90% of the times they turn out to be wrong. But, it happened in the past that a couple of those were right. I never saw them before…but a company named Jintu is selling a bunch of super cheap and manual focusing E-mount lenses on this Amazon Page (click here) . The list includes this super weird 420-800mm f/8.3 APS-C E-mount lens :)
I don’t expect much in terms of optical performance from such lenses…but the user reviews on Amazon actually are not that bad!
There is near zero percent chance that Sony will announce a new Alpha camera or lens. But don’t worry, I am sure something exciting will be announced within 1-2 months. Probably a new camera (A7v?) and certainly at least one new lens! More about that on SAR soon…stay tuned!
