Bill Claff published the full Sony A7rVI dynamic range measurement. As expected the new camera beats the Sony A7rV by 1 stop from USO 50 up to ISO 200. After that the new Sony A7rVI consistently outperforms the A7rV by one quarter of a stop.
At low ISO the camera also outperforms medium format cameras like the Fujifilm GFX100II and Hasselblad X2DII .
| Camera Model | Maximum PDR | Low Light ISO | Low Light EV |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canon EOS R5 Mark II | 1 |
Sony is going medium format! Although not with an Alpha camera, but with the new RIALTO 65 module for the modular Venice 2 cine camera system . The new sensor has a 3:2 format with a 53.7×35.83mm sensor which is bigger than the 43.8mm × 32.9mm sensor in use on the Fujifilm GFX and Hasselblad X2D cameras.
I hope the day is coming where we will see an ALPHA camera using a big medium

Last month E8M reported that Sony has two more Sony cameras registered in China. One is a a FX model (likely FX3 successor) and one is an entry-mid level model. Could be a ZV, RX or and APS-C E-mount camera. The latest info found inside the official registration is that this last model uses the same “old” Sony NPFZ100 battery and not the new Sony NP-SA100 battery launched along the Sony A7rVI .
