Motorcyclist killed in Mississauga crash

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday in a collision in Mississauga’s Meadowvale neighbourhood. Peel Regional Police say the crash happened near Argentia and Kitimat Roads some time around 9:45 p.m. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.  Authorities say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. No other details were immediately available.

CN Tower honours victims of Salsa on St. Clair shooting

The CN Tower is dimming its lights in honour of the victims of the Salsa on St. Clair shooting that happened Saturday night.

Officials say the lights will dim at the top of every hour Sunday evening in homage of the victims.

Two men were killed at the festival during an exchange of gunfire that sent at least four others to a hospital with serious gunshot wounds.

Toronto Police said an estimated 13,000 people were attending the festival when shots rang out shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday

Heat warning issued for Toronto and GTA beginning Monday

Environment Canada has issued a yellow-level warning for heat in Toronto and surrounding areas beginning on Monday.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 30 to 36 C with humidex values of 38 to 45 C, the national weather agency predicts. The hot and humid forecast is expected to last until Wednesday or Thursday evening.

“Tuesday will mark the peak of this heat event. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach near 36 degrees Celsius in some areas,” reads an Environment Canada notice. “

Landlord facing voyeurism charges after tenants find cameras in rooms: Calgary police

CALGARY — Calgary police say a landlord is facing voyeurism charges after multiple tenants discovered small cameras in bathrooms and bedrooms.

Investigators say they also believe the 41-year-old man owns other rental properties in Toronto and Vancouver, and is targeting Korean women.

A tenant in Calgary found the first hidden cameras attached to a bathroom surge protector device and a smoke detector in a bedroom in June.

Police say the tenant notified others and they, too, found cameras in their bedrooms.

Carney says U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham was steadfast defender of democracy and freedom

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney offered his condolences to the family of U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday, saying he “stood resolutely in defence of democracy and freedom,” particularly with Ukraine.

“I offer my condolences to Senator Graham’s family, friends, and all those who served alongside him,” Carney wrote on social media.

Keystone Pipeline system’s operator agrees to pay a $26.9M penalty over a major Kansas oil spill

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A proposed legal settlement with the U.S. government would require the Keystone Pipeline system’s operator to pay a $26.9 million civil penalty over a major oil spill in Kansas in December 2022 and spend about $40 million more to prevent future accidents.

The agreement would resolve allegations from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Kansas that South Bow, based in Canada, violated U.S. and state clean water laws.
