1 man, 1 teen charged in Woodbine Beach assault investigation

Two people are facing charges in connection with an assault that took place at Woodbine Beach earlier this week.

Toronto police were called to the area on Wednesday at approximately 10:45 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

Investigators say 20-year-old Shahabuddin Kabiry of Guelph and a 17-year-old boy, approached a victim and a verbal argument ensued.

A veteran pilot killed last month in a plane crash while fighting a wildfire in the Northwest Territories is being remembered as an expert in his field who kept a cool head under stress.

Robert MacLeod made significant contributions to aerial firefighting across the country in a career that spanned more than 25 years, Buffalo Airways said in a Facebook post Friday paying tribute to the pilot.

Man, 41, facing assault charge in early morning stabbing in Hamilton

A 41-year-old man is facing an assault charge after an early morning stabbing in Hamilton.

Hamilton police say they were called to the Fennel Avenue East and East 26th Street area just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from minor stab wounds. She was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Transport Canada appoints observer after train derailment northeast of Montreal

MONTRÉAL — Transport Canada has appointed an observer to help oversee the investigation into a train derailment northeast of Montreal last weekend.

The department says it is closely monitoring the measures taken in the wake of the derailment, which happened on the edge of a residential neighborhood in Repentigny, Que.

Although no hazardous materials were spilled and no one was injured, 49 railcars went off the tracks near homes along the railway.

3 suspects sought in violent home invasion in Hamilton

Police in Hamilton are searching for three suspects in connection with an early morning home invasion.

Investigators say three masked men forced their way into a home on Rymal Road East near Arrowhead Drive just after 4 a.m. Saturday.

Police say one of the suspects was armed with a firearm and, once inside, they demanded money from the residents before fleeing the scene in a dark sedan, possibly a Honda Civic.

No physical injuries were reported, and police believe it was a targeted incident.
