Kawhi Leonard attends National Bank Open in Toronto
A former (and possibly future) Toronto Raptor was spotted at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers.
Kawhi Leonard was in attendance in Toronto on Tuesday night to see Naomi Osaka take on Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 event.
Leonard also took time to meet Coco Gauff, who advanced to the semifinals on a walkover after Belinda Bencic withdrew due to injury.
It marks Leonard’s first appearance in Toronto since a trade that would have sent him back to the Raptors from the Los Angeles
Motorcyclist suffers head trauma in collision with car in Mississauga

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a collision with a car in Mississauga Tuesday night.
Peel police say they were called to Morningstar Drive at Airport Road for reports of a crash around 8:30 p.m.
The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital with head trauma. The driver of the car also suffered minor injuries.

Trey Yesavage’s first full year in Major League Baseball has been derailed by injury.

Westbound Hwy. 403 closed in Mississauga due to 3-vehicle crash
The westbound lanes of Highway 403 are closed in Mississauga for a collision involving three vehicles, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say.
Emergency services are on the scene and at least two people have suffered serious injuries in the crash.
The highway is closed between Mavis Road and Erin Mills Parkway and traffic delays are expected in the area. It’s unclear how long the closure will last.

Facebook Marketplace meet-up ends with seller being sprayed with noxious substance: Toronto police
Toronto police officers are trying to identify a suspect after a Facebook Marketplace seller was sprayed with a noxious substance during a robbery attempt.
It happened on Friday, August 7, in the Coxwell Avenue and Gerrard Street East area.
Investigators say a man responded to an online ad and agreed to meet the seller at around 8:40 p.m.
But instead of buying the product, police allege the man sprayed the seller with a noxious substance and attempted to steal the item for sale.

An Ontario jeweller accused of laundering hundreds of millions of dollars in drug money for a violent criminal network allegedly run by former Olympian Ryan Wedding will not fight his extradition to the United States.
Rolan Sokolovski’s lawyer confirmed in an email that his client consented to extradition in a court hearing today, but stressed that is “neither an admission of wrongdoing nor an acknowledgment of the strength of the case against him.”
Scott Fenton added that Sokolovski is presumed innocent and plans to challenge the allegations in the California courts.

Wildfire smoke, thunderstorms in store for Toronto this week
Wildfire smoke from western Ontario is once again making an appearance in Toronto this week with sunny but hazy conditions throughout Tuesday.
While the smoke is in the moderate range, it is staying aloft and not adversely affecting the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI), which remains low.
Outdoor activities are safe during low AQHI periods but it is expected to rise slightly on Wednesday. Thereafter a northerly wind will help dissipate the smoke and push it south, leaving clearer skies by Friday.

Man charged after allegedly assaulting Toronto parking enforcement officer over ticket
A 34-year-old Toronto man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted a Toronto Police Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) in North York on Sunday.
Police were called to the Sentinel Road and Sheppard Avenue West area at around 5:20 p.m. after reports of an assault in the area.
Investigators says the PEO was assaulted while issuing a ticket.
The accused fled the scene, but investigators say he was arrested a short time later in the same area.
