Toronto man who is accused of sexually assaulting victim at gunpoint is arrested

A 21-year-old man from Toronto who is accused of sexually assaulting a victim at gunpoint and recording the alleged crime has been arrested.

In an update shared on Monday, Toronto police said Devon Plooard was taken into custody on Aug. 10, and charged with several offences, including sexual assault, pointing a firearm and voyeurism.

The assault was reported on Aug. 8 in the Gerrard Street East and Coxwell Avenue area and allegedly happened months earlier.

Motorcyclist rushed to hospital after Brampton crash

A motorcyclist was rushed to a hospital on Monday evening following a serious crash that happened in Brampton.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Steeles Avenue East and Bramalea Road at approximately 8:30 p.m. for reports of a collision.

Peel Regional Police say the motorcyclist collided with a car and was taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car sustained minor injuries.

Vaughan man, 37, faces multiple charges in drug trafficking probe

A 37-year-old man from Vaughan is facing several charges in connection to a months-long drug trafficking investigation.

York Regional Police say the investigation started in February after officers became aware of a suspect who was believed to be trafficking controlled substances in Vaughan and nearby areas.

After several months, police arrested Wesam Moshi on Aug. 6, and seized a quantity of drugs believed to have a street value of more than $300,000.

A person and their dog were rescued from a residential house fire in Toronto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood on Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Ritchie Avenue, near Dundas Street and Roncesvalles Avenue, at approximately 3 p.m.

Authorities say a person and their dog were trapped on the second floor of the home and were rescued soon after fire fighters arrived at the scene.
