Ashley Martins is a student living on a fixed budget. Last July, she received a call claiming her bank accounts had been compromised. The caller said her bank cards were needed as evidence and a courier would come to pick them up.

A 20-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly crashed his jet ski into a lifeguard vessel, sending the lifeguard overboard into the water near Scarborough Bluffs, Toronto police said.

Toronto Police Marine Unit officers responded to the incident on Thursday, July 2.

Investigators say a City of Toronto beach lifeguard was patrolling a designated swim zone in a vessel when a jet ski collided with it.

No apparent fines yet for ticket resellers under Ontario price-cap law

Ontario’s World Cup matches have come and gone with ticket resale platforms running afoul of a new price cap law but seemingly facing no penalties from the province.

The law banned the resale of Ontario concert and sports tickets for prices above face value. It came into effect in April, well in advance of six World Cup games Toronto was due to host.

Toronto police say they were called to Dundas Street West and The East Mall just after 1 p.m. for reports of two people injured on the road.

NDP’s Nenshi supportive of public cash for Alberta pipeline, wants honesty from Smith

Alberta’s Opposition NDP leader says Premier Danielle Smith’s plan for a new pipeline has his support, but he’s calling on her to be honest about how much taxpayers could be on the hook for it.

Naheed Nenshi also says public financing for the pipeline shouldn’t be a deal-breaker.
