OTTAWA — Environmental groups say they wanted to see a more concrete commitment to decarbonization in the proposal put forward for a pipeline to the B.C. coast backed by the Alberta and federal governments.
Representatives from both the Pembina Institute and Clean Prosperity said Friday the proposal should have included a solid commitment to finalizing the Pathways carbon capture project.

Four people have been arrested after allegedly trying to cash a fraudulent cheque of $1.9 million, Durham police say.
It’s alleged on March 16, a woman went to a Uxbridge bank and cashed a fraudulent cheque.
Between March 16 and March 20, the female suspect and three other male suspects allegedly conducted bank transfers, withdrawals, e-transfers, wire payments and completed bank drafts in order to launder and take possession of the funds.

A Mississauga man has been arrested after nearly $1 million in stolen property was recovered in connection to a shopping mall break-in from his home.
Peel police say just before midnight on April 30, a masked man allegedly broke into a store at Square One Shopping Centre and stole “high-value jewelry and clothing” from multiple displays.
