A Muslim farmer from the Clarington, Ont., area is allegedly facing a concentrated and escalating campaign of intimidation, hate, and extremist threats targeting his family.

Mohsin Bhuiyan operates a hobby farm in Bowmanville where they grow vegetables and raise ducks, laying hens, pigeons and rabbits.

He says he has been the target of multiple online conspiracy theories on Facebook over the past four weeks that allege a number of different nefarious activities are taking place at the farm – among them animal cruelty and slaughter.

Tiger Woods’ hospital records will be handed over to prosecutors in Florida DUI case, judge rules

STUART, Fla. (AP) — Prosecutors are allowed to review medical records related to Tiger Woods ‘ March vehicle crash and subsequent arrest in Florida on suspicion of driving under the influence, a judge has ruled.

Judge Darren Steele approved an agreement last week between Woods’ defense attorney and the State Attorney’s Office that allows prosecutors to request records from Cleveland Clinic Martin South Hospital, where Woods was taken following the March 27 crash. Measles outbreak in Quebec rises to 27 cases, mostly in Quebec City area

MONTRÉAL — A measles outbreak in Quebec has risen to 27 cases, the majority of which are in the Quebec City area.

Health officials say the most recent case was reported on June 28.

Officials say 10 cases were reported last week in the Portneuf regional county municipality, west of the provincial capital.

Exposures sites include the emergency room at the St-Raymond hospital and at grocery stores and pharmacies in Pont-Rouge, Que., and Donnacona, Que.

Toronto Fire Services sees a spike in emergency calls on Canada Day

Toronto Fire Services (TFS) says it experienced a significant spike in emergency calls on Canada Day.

Authorities responded to at least 746 incidents during a 24-hour period, which is 51 per cent greater than the three-year average.

“Through a busy Canada Day, our crews and communications staff remained focused on keeping #Toronto safe,” TFS wrote in a social media post shared Thursday.

Researchers launch study on Ebola treatments as Congo outbreak worsens

Researchers began a highly anticipated study of two possible Ebola treatments on Thursday in hopes of fighting the still-growing outbreak in eastern Congo , as the World Health Organization announced the enrollment of the first participant.

The virus causing this outbreak, called Bundibugyo , is less common than others that cause Ebola disease and there are no specific treatments or vaccines for it. Already more than 1,400 people have been diagnosed and 438 have died, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Thursday.
