Africa’s top public health body on Friday confirmed a new Ebola outbreak in Congo’s remote Ituri province, with 246 suspected cases and 65 deaths recorded so far.
The deaths and suspected cases have been recorded mainly in the Mongwalu and Rwampara health zones, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement.
The Ebola virus is highly contagious and can be contracted through bodily fluids such as vomit, blood or semen. The disease it causes is rare, but severe and often fatal.

American officials say a man from India has pleaded guilty to his role in smuggling Indian migrants into the United States from Canada.

Man stabbed near St. Lawrence Market, suspect in custody
Toronto police say a man was stabbed in the Front Street East and Market Street area on Thursday night.
It happened at around 7:47 p.m.
Officers were called about an altercation between two people and arrived to find a man with non life-threatening stab wounds. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and a male suspect was taken into custody.
