UK aircraft carrier sidelined from largest NATO exercises since Cold War due to propeller problem

LONDON (AP) — A British aircraft carrier that had been set to lead the largest NATO exercises since the Cold War will not set sail Sunday after a problem with its propeller was discovered during final checks, the Royal Navy said.

The will not join the exercises off Norway’s Arctic coast and will be replaced by the HMS Prince of Wales.

The change of plans is almost a reverse scenario of what happened in August 2022 when the Prince of Wales broke down with a propeller problem on its way

Denver shooting injures at least 6 people, police say

DENVER (AP) — Two people have died following an early morning shooting on Sunday in a residential area of Denver that left four other people injured, police said.

A man and a boy were killed, said police department spokesperson Sean Towle. The injuries to the other victims were not specified.

“We don’t believe it’s random at this time,” Towle said. “No arrests at this point, and we’re working to develop suspect information.”

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — A fire at a guesthouse in central Romania on Sunday morning left one person dead and two hospitalized, authorities said.

Emergency teams were deployed to the blaze in the town of Calimanesti in Valcea county where 10 people — including the owner and an employee — were staying at the guesthouse, according to the Department for Emergency Situations, DSU.
