WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans will move forward with a $17.6 billion package that provides and replenish U.S. weapons, but leaves out , underscoring the challenges facing supporters of a comprehensive national security package that would also include billions of dollars for immigration enforcement.
The move gives and House Republicans the chance to show support for Israel even though there is little chance the Senate will go along. Meanwhile, text of a broader Senate compromise is expected to be released this weekend and a key test vote

Funeral held for 7 of the 8 victims in Joliet-area shootings
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — The funeral for seven of the eight victims killed in Joliet-area shootings last month was held Saturday.
The funeral for Christine and William Esters and Tameaka, Joshua, Alexandria, Alonnah and Angel Nance was held at Victory City Church in Joliet.
The seven were all related to shooter Romeo Nance, 23, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound the next day in Texas when confronted by police. An eighth victim was believed to have been shot randomly.

Detroit man dies days after being mauled by three dogs, wife says
DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit man mauled by three dogs has died, his wife said.
Harold Phillips, a father of six, died Friday evening, four days after he was attacked by the dogs as he walked home from a bus stop, Shauntaye Phillips said.
“It’s with deep sadness that I announce Harold’s passing,” she said in a statement released by her attorneys. “It’s painful to think of all the important milestones Harold will miss in our children’s lives
Woman in custody after display of violent behaviour at Toronto Reference Library: police
A woman is in custody after police say she displayed violent behaviour at the Toronto Reference Library on Yonge Street near Yorkville Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
Police received reports at approximately 3:11 p.m. of a female with a gardening tool in library, screaming and banging windows with the tool.
After arriving on scene, police located the woman and she was taken into custody.
No injuries were reported from the incident.

Prosecutor appeals manslaughter charge against ex-Detroit police officer
DETROIT (AP) — Prosecutors have appealed the against a former Detroit police officer of a 71-year-old man by punching him in the face and causing him to fall to the ground.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office filed a claim of appeal Friday in the case against Juwan Brown, the office said in a news release.
