A Brampton woman is facing nearly 40 charges in connection to several incidents of rental fraud.

Former Toronto cop Derek McCormick pleads guilty in Project South case
One of the Toronto police officers charged in February in connection to a wide ranging probe into police corruption and organized crime has plead guilty Tuesday to two of the six charges that were brought against him.
Derek McCormick, one of seven current and retired officers charged in the investigation dubbed Project South , has entered a guilty plea for theft under $5,000 and breach of trust (stealing found property) in the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto.

Doctor at SickKids hospital charged with possessing, accessing child sexual abuse material
A doctor at Toronto’s prestigious Hospital for Sick Children is facing charges following an internet child exploitation investigation by Toronto police.
Toronto Police’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit began the investigation in January 2026 after an electronic device was allegedly used to access and download child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
“In February 2026, members of the ICE unit executed search warrants at the Hospital for Sick Children and at a private residence,” a police release states.

Drowning death reported in Oastler Provincial Park near Parry Sound

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say one person died after drowning in Oastler Lake near Parry Sound earlier this month.
Authorities were called to Oastler Provincial Park on July 4 around 9 p.m.
The victim was found by the underwater search and recovery unit the next day around 11 a.m.
Provincial police say the exact cause of drowning and the circumstances surrounding it are unknown at this time.
