Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow is looking to ban “surveillance pricing” at grocery stores across the city in an effort to curb what she describes as “unfair price gouging” that uses customer’s personal data to charge more for groceries.

Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles has filed an improper spending complaint with the Integrity Commissioner, claiming the Progressive Conservative Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Brampton East potentially spent taxpayers’ money to place ads in a newspaper owned by his father.

Woman arrested for impaired driving after crashing into Etobicoke hydro pole

A 21-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving overnight after crashing into an hydro pole in Etobicoke.
Police were called to the area of Islington Avenue and Aylesbury Road just after 1:30 a.m. for reports of a collision.
Detectives say the woman struck a hydro pole causing it to fall and also causing live wires to be exposed near a TTC bus.

Almost three years ago, some 200 inmates at Maplehurst Correctional Facility in Milton, Ont. were subjected to strip searches, zip ties and pepper spray during an violent incident that lasted more than a day. Since then, multiple sentences have either been shortened or thrown out, including a first-degree murder case from 2022.
The provincial ombudsman has since launched an investigation to find out what exactly happened during the incident, and why prison officials reportedly lied about it.

Man rushed to hospital after stabbing in Mississauga: Peel police
A 17-year-old boy was rushed to a hospital overnight after an alleged stabbing onboard a Mississauga bus, Peel police say.
Authorities were called to the area of Hurontario Street and Watline Drive, in the city’s Britannia area just before 2 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the teen with stab wounds. He was transported to a trauma centre in Toronto where he remains in life-threatening condition.
