HP's premium Chromebook x360 14c improves on the successful recipe of the original, starts at $499

In brief: HP's original Chromebook 14 was already selling like hotcakes to people who don't depend on legacy software tools and are able to live their digital lives in the cloud. Now the company has improved on that recipe with more refinements such as a fingerprint reader, fast charging, and updated internals. The screen could've been a bit brighter, but at a starting price of $499, it's a lot of Chromebook for your buck.

Chinese company says its latest EV batteries can last 16 years

In context: Electric vehicles are much better overall now than they were a decade ago, but they still have a few key shortcomings; mostly relating to their batteries. Range anxiety is less of a problem these days, but eventually, after several years have passed, an EV battery simply won't be able to hold its charge as well as it once did.

This is, for the most part, an unavoidable problem with modern battery technology. However, some corporations are attempting to mitigate the issue by developing new

US Air Force to test autonomous AI fighter against a human next year

The USAF started an AI-drone project in 2018. The goal was to implement machine learning in a less sophisticated craft like the F-16 within 18 months. If successful, newer fighters such as the F-32 or

MIT researchers develop new manufacturing process for creating transparent graphene sheets

What just happened? Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed a new process for creating large pieces of ultra-thin graphene that could lead to new classes of devices that emit and harvest light.

Scientists for years have been searching for a better way to make large sheets of thin, transparent electrodes for use in electronics like computer and smartphone screens and solar cells. The standard for doing so today involves a material called indium tin oxide (ITO) due to its electrical conductivity and optical transparency but it

Amazon is overhauling Crucible just weeks after launch

Editor's take: Crucible, the free-to-play multiplayer shooter developed by Amazon Game Studios, isn’t quite off to the start that the e-commerce giant likely hoped for. As such, some changes are in order. With so many key features missing at launch, one has to wonder why Amazon didn't push the title back a bit longer to add them in.

In a recent developer update , Amazon said the game will remain in pre-season until it has had the opportunity

Airbnb is looking more attractive than ever post-lockdown

The big picture: Covid-19 may even be giving services like Airbnb a leg up on traditional hotels. With vacation home rentals, travelers can control their contact with others, cook in a private kitchen and avoid crowded areas like hotel lobbies.

Covid-19 containment measures are starting to take their toll. Having been stuck at home for well over two months now, many are starting to go stir-crazy and are opting for impulse road trips and weeks-long respites for a change of scenery.
