AMD recommends Radeon RX 5600 XT owners to update vBIOS that improves memory speed to 14 Gbps

In brief: After messing up a bit on the launch of the Radeon RX 5600 XT, AMD is now encouraging users to "unlock the full potential" of their graphics card by manually upgrading its firmware. The added performance is well worth the effort, but suffice to say that it took the company long enough to make it official.

Back in January, when AMD was readying the launch of the Radeon RX 5600 XT , the plan was to have it debut with 12 Gbps memory

Google is bringing Live Caption to Chrome for desktop

In context: Whether you have hearing difficulties or not, closed captions are an incredibly useful tool in games, movies, shows, and more. When the audio mixing for a given piece of media isn't the best (or you simply don't have the greatest sound setup), captions can help you more easily follow what's happening on screen.

Unfortunately, not all media has support for captions out of the box. Fortunately, that could change moving forward; in a sense, anyway. As

A smaller, lighter Oculus Quest with a better display is reportedly in the works

A standalone VR device is something that many were looking forward to, and the Quest delivered that, for the most part. The chief complaints were that it was somewhat heavy and bulky, making it uncomfortable to wear for extended periods and that it

Extraterrestrial life could survive, and thrive, in a hydrogen world

The big picture: Of course, what astronomers are looking for is arguably just as important as the gear they are using to find it. And in the hunt for alien life forms, they believe it is important to consider environments that aren’t only dominated by nitrogen and oxygen like here on Earth.

Astronomers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are hoping that next-gen hardware like NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope will help them discover evidence of extraterrestrial life in the universe.

In a recently published paper in the
