Slack secures 350,000 users as it becomes IBM's official communications app

In a nutshell: On Monday, IBM announced it would be using Slack companywide with its 350,000 employees. It's a feather in the cap for the communications startup, but the company still has an uphill battle. Slack Technologies continues to struggle with Microsoft Teams for marketshare, and shares have foundered since its IPO.

IBM has decided that Slack will become its official collaboration tool. The company has been using Slack with some internal team since 2014, but Business Insider reports the

T-Mobile / Sprint merger gets judge's approval, could be finalized as early as April 1

What just happened? A federal judge on Tuesday approved the proposed merger between T-Mobile and Sprint, paving the way for a new path in the wireless industry that’ll see three major players – and newcomer Dish Network – compete for subscribers.

Attorneys general from several states filed a lawsuit to block the deal, claiming it would limit competition and lead to higher prices for consumers. US District Court Judge Victor Marrero in his ruling said the merger was not reasonably likely to substantially lessen competition. Instead, it would likely

Arm brings AI and machine learning to IoT and the edge

Why it matters: For a company that doesn’t manufacture anything, Arm has a surprisingly large and broad impact, not only on the chip industry, but the overall tech industry and, increasingly, many other vertical industries as well. The company—which creates semiconductor chip designs that it licenses as intellectual property and then Arm’s customers use the designs to build chips—is the brains behind virtually every smartphone ever made.

In addition, it has a small but growing market in data center and other network infrastructure

Highly anticipated: Microsoft has been out of the smartphone game for quite a while. Google Chrome 82 will warn users about insecure downloads

In context: Google pushed for a more secure web by labeling all HTTP websites as 'Not secure' in Chrome 68 (July 2018). As websites transitioned to HTTPS, there still lays a risk of downloading tampered files from these secure websites as the content may rely on the older protocol for transmission. The company has now revealed a roadmap for its Chrome browser that will further tighten the noose around insecure downloads by completely blocking all such media when version 86 comes out in October this year.
