Apple confirms it fixed bug that stored parts of encrypted emails as readable text

In a nutshell: Apple rolled out macOS version 10.15.3 last week, which reportedly included a patch for a bug that it has known about since at least last summer. Before being fixed, it was possible to view encrypted email snippets as if they were not encrypted in Catalina.

Mac enthusiast and IT specialist Bob Gendler stumbled upon the bug in July 2019 and immediately reported it to Apple. When developers failed to issue a fix, Gendler publicly disclosed it in November.

NYPD to replace officers' handwritten patrol memo books with iPhone app

Forward-looking: Beginning February 17, officers across the force will put down their trusty memo pads and start taking digital notes on company-issued iPhones. It may not seem like a big deal but for a department with over 30,000 uniformed officers, it’ll be a major transition.

WhatsApp desktop app vulnerabilities led to remote file access, code execution

In brief: Facebook has patched a critical security flaw in WhatsApp’s desktop platform that could have allowed an attacker to read files from the local file system on Windows and Mac and even pull off remote code execution.

Spotify hits 271 million monthly active users as growth continues
