Intel Details Its Cryogenic Horse Ridge Quantum Control Chip

Intel Labs and QuTech, TU Delft have unveiled technical details of their cryogenic control chip for quantum computers at ISSCC, called Horse Ridge. The goal of the chip is to help scale quantum computer to thousands of chips by reducing the interconnect complexity, and eventually to demonstrate quantum practicality: solving real-world problems with quantum computers. The U.S. Navy Department of Defense Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) on Monday announced plans to install its first supercomputer with a peak performance of over 10 petaflops (12.8 petaflopsto be exact). Cray will build the supercomputer on its Shasta platform , and the supercomputer will come packing AMD Epyc CPUs and Nvidia Volta V100 GPUs.
