Male found dead in burning backyard shed in Brampton: Peel police

Peel Regional Police say a male has been found dead in a shed that was on fire in a backyard in Brampton on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Aloma Crescent at around 3:45 p.m. after reports of a shed on fire.
Crews doused the fire, and a male was later found deceased inside the shed, police confirmed.
The deceased male’s age has not been released.

$8-million settlement proposed in national beef price-fixing class-action
A proposed settlement has been reached with some of the meat companies accused of conspiring to fix the price of beef for Canadian consumers.
A statement from multiple Canadian law firms issued Thursday said JBS USA Company, Swift Beef Company, JBS Packerland Inc., and JBS Canada ULC have agreed to pay $7.49 million, while National Beef will pay $495,000.

MONTRÉAL — The Quebec government says it is tightening the rules to curb dangerous trucking, particularly for drivers from Ontario.
As of today, truck drivers from Ontario with less than two years experience on the road who want to move to Quebec will have to pass a driving exam with Quebec’s auto insurance board to obtain a heavy vehicle licence.
If they fail this exam twice, they will have to complete mandatory training to receive authorization to drive heavy trucks.
