City of Toronto officials say the pilot project involves 40 students who are spending two months learning about firefighting and policing.

Boy, 17, injured after losing control of moped in Etobicoke

A 17-year-old boy has been seriously injured after losing control on his moped in Etobicoke.

Toronto police were called to Redgrave Drive and Clarion Road area, near Martin Grove Road and Eglinton Avenue West, around 10 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a collision.

It was reported that the boy lost control and fell off the moped. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuires.

An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing by the Traffic Services Unit and anyone with dashcam or security

Canadian man charged in alleged human smuggling attempt at Peace Bridge, U.S. prosecutors say

A Canadian citizen is facing a federal human‑smuggling charge in the United States after border officers allegedly discovered a man hiding inside the cab of his commercial truck during an inspection at the Peace Bridge crossing late last month.

The Public Health Agency of Canada says the outbreak of a diarrhea-causing parasite that has infected more than 1,200 people in Michigan has not spread to Canada based on current information.

The midwestern state announced an outbreak of cyclospora last week, saying more than 170 people had been infected.

An Ontario Superior Court judge has struck down a rule that blocks travellers from sharing the outcome of passenger complaints made to the country’s transport regulator.

The ruling Wednesday found that regulations barring travellers from disclosing the result of complaints on matters ranging from accessible travel to compensation for a cancelled flight violate Canadians’ Charter rights to freedom of expression.
