Brampton ride share driver, 48, charged with sexual assault
A Brampton ride share driver has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault investigation.
According to Toronto police, the victim requested a ride through a car share app on Sunday at 1 p.m. She was picked up and dropped off at her destination near Danforth and Broadview Avenues.
“Prior to the victim exiting the vehicle, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim,” police wrote in a news release issued on Wednesday.

Congress hears drug seizures at U.S-Canada border dropping despite Republican claims
WASHINGTON — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials told a hearing on Capitol Hill on Tuesday that there’s been a significant drop in drug seizures at the border with Canada.
Acting Deputy Chief Jason Schneider told the House committee on border security and enforcement that seizures at the United States’ northern border had dropped by 55 per cent compared to last year.

Pedestrian hit by car in Mississauga, police say
Police are investigating after a child was hit by a car in Mississauga late Tuesday evening.
Peel Regional Police say the crash happened at approximately 11:19p.m. near Tenth Line and Battleford Road.
Paramedics say a kid under the age of 10 was transported to a hospital with injuries that were later determined to be non-life-threatening.
The circumstances leading up to the collision were not immediately known. Police say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Two women are fighting for their lives in a Toronto hospital following a serious collision on Highway 401 early Wednesday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police said the crash involved a transport truck and a passenger vehicle in a social media post shared just after 5 a.m.
Paramedics transported two women to a hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
The westbound ramp from Highway 401 to Highway 427 remains fully closed for an investigation.
Canada will make its Eurovision Song Contest debut next year
