Facebook acquires Giphy for undisclosed sum

Bottom line: Facebook has made a number of shrewd acquisitions over the years including WhatsApp and Instagram. Will its latest purchase of Giphy also fall into that category or will it ultimately come up short?

Facebook on Friday announced that it has acquired Giphy and will be integrating it into the Instagram team. Financial terms of the agreement were not shared although according to Axios’ sources, the deal is valued at around $400 million.

Amazon repurposes its manufacturing facilities to mass-produce face shields for medical workers

In brief: Amazon is keeping its workers plenty busy amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, and one of their tasks has been to mass-produce hundreds of thousands of face shields for healthcare professionals (and, eventually, the general public). These shields are designed to help protect the eyes, nose, and mouth from virus-laden sneezes or coughs.
