Grab a Single Frame from a Video in QuickTime X
Update : More recent versions of QuickTime Player have the ability to copy frames of the video by using 'Command + C'. In recent versions, to grab a frame, do the following:
- In QuickTime Player: Pause on the frame you want to capture (use arrow keys to go forward/backward by 1 frame).
- Press 'Command-C' (or select Edit > 'Copy').
- In Preview: Press 'Command-N' (or select File > 'New from Clipboard')

Who needs a Calculator? Spotlight is better.
When I'm performing quick calculations or estimates, measuring things, or balancing my checkbook, I just hit Command + Spacebar, then type in what I need to know.

- 1+1? (Spotlight gives the answer right away: 2)
- ((1+1)/4*(232.2-28))+55? (Spotlight gives the answer right away: 157.1
Instant math... way better than any calculator or calculator app I'
Morality and Politics
A few years ago, I remember a certain dispute over a restaurant coming into the city of Florissant (where I lived until I was 18). This restaurant (which shall not be named, but is known for busty waitresses and 'irreverence') wanted to have a location in the City of Florissant, but was voted down for moral concerns by the city council at the time.
Regardless of whether or not I supported this restaurant (I did not, and voiced my own concerns at a council meeting)
Declustering Markers in Google Maps with Drupal?

My response (posted below) basically gives some pointers for what other people (often creating custom implementations of Google Maps on their sites) are doing to avoid the problem of 'decluttering' or 'declustering' multiple points at the same location (same coordinates). My question is: how
Things: Opportunity Lost
Dear Things developers (Cultured Code),
I know you are perfectionists. I know you're purists. Your software is inspirational, in a way. It's clean, it's fast, and it's functional. You make beautiful software, and I'm glad you've had such great success in the past.
But I have to say, "Goodbye."
The one and only feature that I've been waiting forâOTA syncâis still not

Doing Some Benchmarks - Mac Processor Speed
I currently own or use a variety of Macs, and am approaching the end of a 'cycle' of Mac usage, where I need to decided what Mac I'd like to purchase next. Currently, I'm using a 27" iMac at work, an 11" MacBook Air (from work) for travel, and a 24" iMac at home. They're all great computers in their own right, and using Dropbox, MobileMe, and a couple other helper services, I
One of the best things I've read in years - from George Orwell
One of maybe 100 or so quotes I could pull from Orwell's 1946 essay, " Politics and the English Language :"
Political languageâand with variations this is true of all political parties, from Conservatives to Anarchistsâis designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.
The essay also gives guidelines for modern English writers, explaining how to write concisely and eloquently. There are so many great sentences in
Florissant, MO Mayoral Elections - Susan Geerling for Mayor!

[ Update : Looks like the results are in, and my mom came in 2nd. Congratulations to Tom Schneider, who won this year's election!].
Today is the day for the Florissant, MO mayoral election, and it's quite a day! I started off at the polls helping my mom's campaign ( Geerling for Mayor ) at 6:00 a.m., when it was about 35°F, but it's since warmed up to a toasty
The Exodus App â Pulled from App Store for being "Gay Cure"
While reading through a relatively decent overview/article on the current controversy, I found a paragraph that I take some issue with, especially with regard to the question of 'faith vs. science/reason':
Ms. Pynchon makes a critical observation: âThese religious beliefs (that sexual conduct outside of a one man-one woman marriage is sinful and can be âcuredâ by Jesus) are held by fewer and fewer Americans. They have also been repudiated by many liberal American
