Converting between Exposure Value and LUX

For a recent project, I had to make some rough LUX measurements (LUX is a more international standard for light measurement than candlepower, which is traditionally used in the U.S.) of an environment to help determine what kind of video cameras to use. Problem was, all I had was a spot meter—an incident light meter for film/digital photography, that would give me a reading of, say "1/15 second exposure at f/5.6 and ISO 10

iPhone App Development... DrupalCon... Life...

Just a little bit of an overview of a couple things I'm working on / where I've been:

Best Practices and Tips for In-App iPhone or iPod Touch UIWebView Browsers

Or... "Best Practices of In-App Web Browsers"

Being the usability nut that I am, I have decided that my goal of making a perfect in-app browser for various iPhone apps is an impossible task. But, judging from what I've been able to do so far, and from many different Web View examples I've seen from around the web, there are some basics that every in-app browser should get right.

I'll start by showing the in-app

Scaling the Drupal Community - Notes and Reflections

The sparsely-attended ' Scaling the Drupal Community ' session, led by webchick and heyrocker, was one of the few sessions I've attended at DrupalCon Chicago that held my interest throughout. And, since a few people on IRC asked me to post my session notes, I thought I'd do so and put them up on the Planet.

If you, like me, thought there were too many awesome sessions during this timeslot that you decided to go to another one, then this post is for youâ

I couldn't pass up this photo op. Foggy nights in downtown Chicago are great!

Guitar Hero Hancock Center

I'm in Chicago for the week for DrupalCon Chicago 2011 —it's been a great conference, though the weather's been pretty stiff. Maybe I'll have time to waltz around the city a little more tomorrow evening...

Review: iPhone 4 Tripod Mount - SnapMount

Jeff's Rating: 5 /5

tl;dr : Right in all the right ways, this is one of the two tripod mounts I keep in my bag.

There are finally a plethora of different iPhone 4 tripod mounting solutions on the market, and this is a very, very good thing. You can browse other Reviews on my website to find some examples of other great tripod mounts—some very nice for specific purposes, others that are only marginally better than duct-taping your iPhone to a
