Open Gate as advertised on the Lumix S9

For years, we kept asking Sony why they wouldn’t add Open Gate recording to their compact Cinema Line cameras. On multiple occasions, Sony managers said they didn’t believe it was a feature users really needed. But it looks like they’ve finally changed their mind: the upcoming Sony FX5 is expected to feature full Open Gate support.

Specifically I have been told the camera has Opengate 5K 3:2 support!

I made a mistake in my previous post when I suggested this lens might be a new Sigma wide-angle zoom. That is NOT the case. Based on what I have learned since then, it looks much more likely to be a new Tamron lens. The only information I have been given so far is that this is a full-frame autofocus E-mount lens, and that the official announcement is expected to take place around July 3.
