Sony A9III gets the Gold Award at Dpreview: “undeniably ground-breaking camera”

Sony A9III at BHphoto . Amazon . Adorama . FotoErhardt . Fotokoch . Calumet . WexUK .

Dpreview just published the full and final Sony A9III review. The conclusion:

The a9 III is an undeniably ground-breaking camera….sets a new standard for what we can expect from a pro sports camera, and Sony appears to be adding the workflow features that the most demanding pros are requesting. There are some trade-offs being made to deliver the a9 III’s super-fast capabilities

It’s strange: so far no new camera announcements by Canon/Nikon/Sony in 2024!

The strange delays in camera launches: Canon did not announce new cameras for 12 months, Nikon for 8 months and Sony for 6 months! I do not know what the reason for this is. I can only speculate:

  • some kind of component shortage
  • The worldwide enthusiasm for compact cameras is creating new demand for some of the existing models (such as Sony A6700 and A7c series ). This is forcing companies to postpone new releases
  • New European AI regulations (or other regulations?) are

Supply delays: Sigma reports “higher than expected” demand for the new 24-70mm lens.

Today Sigma Japan issued the following note:

Regarding the “SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art for Sony E-mount” scheduled to be released on May 30, 2024 (Thursday), we received orders that exceeded our expectations and production has been delayed. We are unable to keep up with demand. Therefore, some customers may take some time to receive their products.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers and related parties who are waiting

Curiosity: That’s why the FujifilmX1000VI hype is actually pushing Sony A6700 and A7cII sales!

Two different retailers told me a curious story. The fact that the Fujifilm X100VI is extremely popular, but at the same time not in stock for the next few months, is forcing people to look at possible alternatives. That is why I have been told that the Sony A6700 and Sony A7cII have seen a significant increase in sales.

Fuji’s success is great news for the whole industry. It finally shows that there is some potential to increase camera sales. However

Likely Sony ZV-E10II launch has been slightly delayed: Will be in Stock in August only!

A trusted source contacted me and told me that it seems that the launch of the ZV-E10II is slightly delayed. He does not know the reason for this. He added that it is likely that the ZV-E10II will only be available in August!

This is not the first time this has happened this year, the launch of the 16-25mm G was also delayed by over a month! It was supposed to be announced at the end of February, but
