Tornado warning issued for areas southwest of London
Environment Canada has ended a red-level tornado warning for areas southwest of London that was in effect for several hours late Thursday afternoon and into the evening.
The earlier tornado warning, which was in effect for Chatham-Kent and Rondeau Park, is now a yellow, severe-thunderstorm warning.
Despite the tornado risk being downgraded, the storm can still cause damage, Environment Canada warns.

RBC fined more than $4M for providing inaccurate credit card statements
OTTAWA — Canada’s financial consumer watchdog says the Royal Bank of Canada was fined more than $4 million for providing inaccurate credit card statements to some customers.
The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada says it issued a fine of $4.25 million in March, which the bank paid in April.
It says RBC provided credit card statements with wrong information about amounts credited or charged between 2001 and 2024.

Cow spotted on the loose on Highway 400 north of Innisfil Beach Road
Aurora OPP reported spotting a cow trotting along Highway 400, bringing traffic to a standstill.
Ontario Provincial Police are asking drivers to slow down and keep an eye out for cow on the loose after it was spotted on Highway 400 near Innisfil Beach Road.
In a social media post, police said the cow was spotted on the right shoulder of highway before OPP diverted it to a sideroad off the highway.
It’s now off the highway and moving south.

Niagara man arrested in East York assault investigation
A Niagara man is facing charges after police allege he assaulted and threatened someone known to him in East York last Wednesday.
Officers were called about an assault in the Dawes Road and Victoria Park Avenue area on June 17.
Investigators say the suspect, identified as Jonathan Laranjeira, 37, assaulted and threatened the person.
The victim wasn’t injured. Investigators say the suspect and victim knew each other, but didn’t elaborate on the nature of their relationship.

Oshawa man arrested for breaching terms of bail following conviction of sex offences against child
A 43-year-old man has been charged with breaching the terms of his bail after being convicted of sexual offences against a child.
On June 22, 2026, police in Durham Region say they received information that a man had breached conditions of his release order prohibiting him from being in the company of or communicating with anyone under the age of 16.
Following an investigation, police determined the man had violated his release order, and he was arrested without incident.
