CPP Investments and Lendlease selling Elephant Park rental portfolio to Greystar

TORONTO — The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and real estate group Lendlease have signed a deal to sell their Elephant Park residential portfolio in London to Greystar.

CPP Investments is expected to receive C$670 million in net proceeds under the deal for the 904-home portfolio.

Lendlease, an Australian firm, is expect to receive A$260 million.

Canada has signed an agreement with Qatar that Ottawa says looks to address evolving security threats and strengthen public safety.

Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree says strong international partnerships are essential to keeping Canadians safe.

He says the memorandum of understanding will see both countries work together on addressing transnational crime and evolving security threats.

Ottawa says the deal went into effect upon signing and can be renewed after five years.

Man seriously injured in west-end stabbing

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing in the city’s west end on Thursday night.

Toronto Police say it happened at Dundas Street West and Runnymede Road in The Junction area at around 8:47 p.m.

Officers located the injured man at the scene. His exact age was not provided.

Man dies in North York industrial accident: Toronto Police

Toronto Police say a man has died in an industrial accident in North York on Thursday.

Emergency crews were called to the RioCan Empress Walk Plaza near Yonge Street and Empress Avenue just after 5:00 p.m.

Police tell CityNews the man fell from an escalator and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The plaza has been evacuated and shut down and the Ministry of Labour has been notified.
