Suspect arrested, charged in the death of victim found in Caledon two years ago: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they arrested and charged a suspect in a homicide cold case investigation in Caledon.

Police say officers responded to a report about a deceased person in the area of Chinguacousy Road and King Street on April 1, 2024.

OPP says 65-year-old David Robson, who was last seen in Melancthon on March 21 of that year, was reported missing along with his vehicle four days later.

Toronto reporting 70 per cent reduction in encampments

Toronto officials say they’re making strides in reducing the number of encampments in parks and on city property, however, advocates warn the decrease in encampments doesn’t mean unhoused people have found places to live.

Toronto Shelter and Support Services General Manager Gord Tanner announced Tuesday there had been a 70 per cent reduction in the number of encampments from 283 to 84.

“The progress is about dedicated teams in the parks offering people access to the shelter system,” said Tanner.

Dan McLean, longtime CHCH anchor, dies at 78

Longtime CHCH anchor Dan McLean has passed away at the age of 78, the Hamilton TV station reported Tuesday.

Health Canada approves 1st generic version of Ozempic in the country

TORONTO — Health Canada has approved the first generic version of brand-name Ozempic.

The department says Canada is the first G7 country to authorize generic semaglutide.

The injectable medication is manufactured by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories in India and is approved for the once-weekly treatment of Type 2 diabetes in adults.

In a news release, Health Canada says many generic medications are 45 to 90 per cent cheaper than brand-name versions.

Richmond Hill GO experiencing delays due to police investigations

Trains on the Richmond Hill GO line are experiencing delays due to a police investigation just south of Oriole GO station in North York.

Metrolinx says trains are not able to move through the area until given permission as it’s currently in the hands of emergency personnel.

Customers are asked for those travelling north of Oriole GO or Old Cummer GO to take the Stouffville line for train service to Unionville GO. There will be a GO bus shuttle to take riders from Unionville to further north on the Richmond Hill line.

Ottawa outlines plans to tackle financial crime, ban crypto ATMs

OTTAWA — The federal government plans to ban cryptocurrency ATMs as part of a suite of measures in its spring economic update that target financial crimes.
