NEW YORK (AP) — General Motors is expecting a $500 million after the Supreme Court some of President Donald Trump’s most sweeping levies.
That’s boosted the Detroit auto maker’s outlook for 2026. On Tuesday, GM said it’s now looking to rake in $13.5 billion to $15.5 billion in earnings before interest and taxes this year — up from previous forecasts of $13 billion to $15 billion.

York Regional Police (YRP) have released images of a suspect who allegedly grabbed a young female at a park in Vaughan last Wednesday.
Officers were called on April 22, 2026, just before 5:30 p.m. after reports of an assault in the Tami Court and Bathurst Street area.
Police say a young female was walking on a forested pathway which connects Lady Nadia Drive and Rivermill Crescent, when she was grabbed and picked up from behind by an unknown male.

E-bike rider seriously injured in crash near Woodbine and Danforth
A 36-year-old man has serious injuries following a crash involving an e-bike and a vehicle in Toronto’s east end.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Woodbine Avenue and Danforth Avenue just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police say an e-bike was struck by a vehicle and the rider was taken to hospital.
They also say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
It’s not yet known what led up to the crash.

NEW YORK (AP) — filed three new trademark applications with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, a move one legal expert theorizes it is to protect her voice and image from potential misuse through artificial intelligence.
Two of the applications filed Friday are sound trademarks covering her voice, one of her saying “Hey, it’s Taylor Swift,” and the other is “Hey, it’s Taylor.”

Ontario could soon allow the sale of over-the-counter hearing aids
The Province of Ontario is looking into possibly allowing the sale of over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids, the Ministry of Health announced Tuesday.
The process will start with a 30-day consultation beginning April 28 during which industry partners, health organizations and individuals, among others, will be invited to give their feedback about the idea and the regulatory changes that will be needed to implement it.

European Union top brass says Carney is off to Armenia this weekend for summit
OTTAWA — The European Union says Prime Minister Mark Carney will be in Armenia this weekend as part of a summit focused on strategic issues.
Carney’s office has not publicly confirmed the visit, but European Council President Antonio Costa says on social media that the prime minister will be attending.
The European Political Community summit will take place in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, with a focus on strategic co-operation for the continent’s politics, security and infrastructure.

CALGARY — Global energy heavyweight Shell PLC’s plan to buy one of Canada’s biggest natural gas producers bolsters the likelihood an expansion of the LNG Canada plant will move ahead, industry experts say.
The deal to buy Calgary-based ARC Resources Ltd. is valued at $22 billion, accounting for the target company’s debt. It gets Shell access to ARC’s holdings in the prolific Montney shale formation that last year produced 374,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The Vancouver-based retailer says Esi Eggleston Bracey is joining its board immediately.

Man struck by vehicle in Etobicoke, critically injured
A man is critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle in Etobicoke.
Toronto police and paramedics were called to the area of Dundas Street West and Islington Avenue just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Paramedics rushed the man, believed to be around 50 years old, to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the driver remained at the scene.
Dundas is closed both ways at Islington for the collision investigation.
